Tom Brady Leaving the Patriots, Not Eyeing Indianapolis

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady announced Tuesday morning in a shocking social media statement that we he will be leaving the team, and “signing elsewhere.

 

Brady has made an extraordinary name for himself since entering the league in 2000 as a sixth-round draft pick. The three-time NFL MVP will leave after 20 seasons with the Pats, and after leading them to six Super Bowls.

 

This announcement may inspire hope in Colts fans that he’ll consider a move to Indianapolis as the starting QB, now that the position is effectively vacant following the departure of Andrew Luck earlier this year. Sadly, those hopes are misplaced, as it’s been reported there are no indications that Brady is considering Indy as his new home. By some reports, he has already received offers of upwards of $30 million from teams including the Chargers and the Buccaneers. Despite these reports, we have no solid information on where he’s headed, and according to NBC Boston’s Tom Curran, no additional news on the matter will be broken on Tuesday.

The timing of this announcement was not lost on sports fans, who have had a rough week with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, which has seen the suspension of the NBA 2019-20 season, NCAA Tournament, and more major sporting events.
