The Doobie Brothers and Michael McDonald back together again. Sounds mighty nice, doesn’t it? They’ve just released a single titled, ‘Learn To Let Go’ that will appear on their upcoming album set to be released in June. What’s incredible is that it’s been 45 years since McDonald sang lead vocals on new music with this legendary group. This song reminds me of the McDonald 1982 hit, ‘I Keep Forgettin’ (Every Time You’re Near). It has a melancholy feel to it and lives up to the song’s title. Michael explained a bit more in a statement saying, “It’s a song about what might be the hardest lesson we learn and one of the last things we do in this life”. So true, Mike, so true.
