John Wick was almost a half-century older before Keanu Reeves signed on.

The “Matrix” actor led a script rewrite with screenwriter Derek Kolstad before the 2014 action franchise was born. For the original screenplay, then titled “Scorn,” the Wick character was supposed to be 75 years old, with the revenge story taking place 25 years after his retirement and starring Clint Eastwood or Harrison Ford.

In a new book out today “They Shouldn’t Have Killed His Dog: The Complete Uncensored Oral History of John Wick” much information about the 75 year old character is revealed including why and how Keanu couldn’t walk away from the project. BTW you might notice the original JW character in the book is similar to the FX series “The Old Man” with Jeff Bridges.
