In May, Indiana tax payers started receiving tax refunds thanks to a budget surplus. The $125 payments were automatically sent via direct deposit or will be mailed out before the end of summer.
Now that inflation is insane and gas prices are over $5 a gallon, the governor of Indiana has announced a plan to give taxpayers an additional refund. The plan would cost around $1 billion.
According to RTV6, each person would get a payment of $225 on top of the $125 they’ve already received.
If the plan is approved, the extra money will be deposited into bank accounts for those with direct deposits. Those who opted for paper checks would get the entire amount sent to them in August on one check.
