Jack Nicholson, Uber Lakers Fan, Remembers How He Met Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant

Following the sudden death of local hero Kobe Bryant, longtime Lakers fan, Jack Nicholson reflected on his relationship with the basketball icon and his home team in a rare CBS phone interview

“My reaction is the same as almost all of L.A. and most of the world, Nicholson said. “Suddenly, where everything was solid, there’s a big hole in the wall. On their first meeting the academy award winner shared this story.

\”I teased him the first time we met. It was in [Madison Square Garden] in New York, and I offered him a basketball and asked him, if he wanted me to autograph it for him?  He looked at me like I was crazy.”

Kobe Bryant wasn’t without a sense of humor: “He got all the jokes, that’s for sure.” See more about the documentary that Nicholson and Kobe worked on together. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/28579796/a-friend-well-fan-jack-nicholson-remembers-kobe-just-how-great-player-was
