Today is a somber day in the law enforcement community here in Indiana. One of their fellow peace makers, Howard County Sheriff Deputy Carl Koontz, will be buried. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 this morning in Kokomo. Koontz was killed in the line of duty earlier this month, and sadly leaves behind an 8 month old and his wife. But it’s also a sad day for Hoosiers. Deputy Koontz was a Resource Officer at Northwestern High School, and is fondly remembered by students and faculty. In the news and on social media, you’ve probably read story after story of how Koontz was the very definition of an ‘exceptional’ cop. His life was tragically cut short, but his legacy will live on forever.
